Tour Itinerary

Day One · June 06: Depart the United States

Depart Ames on an overnight flight across the Atlantic. If you need help booking flights, just ask. We can point you to the best routes and fares.

Day Two · June 07: Dublin Arrival, Wexford and VIP Concert

Arrive in Dublin, clear customs, meet your driver, and enjoy breakfast as you head south to Wexford and Michael’s hometown. Settle in, then gather for a private concert hosted by Michael with his favorite local traditional musicians. Learn about Irish instruments, songs, and local musical culture.

Day Three · June 08: Hook Lighthouse and Johnstown Castle

Visit the Hook Lighthouse, one of the oldest working lighthouses in the world. Continue to Johnstown Castle and its gardens, a truly magical place. Return to Wexford for a free evening.

Day Four · June 09: Wexford Walking Tour and Opera House

Join local guide Paul Walsh for a gentle walk through Wexford’s narrow streets and historic sites, including the bull ring, quayside, and Selskar Abbey. Lunch at Ireland’s National Opera House. Rehearsal and performance tonight. Details to follow.

Day Five · June 10: Kilkenny to Galway

Travel to Kilkenny for a taste of local whiskey and time to wander this medieval city. Continue to Galway for a walking tour with the legendary Brian Nolan, then check in and enjoy dinner with the group. Evening is free to explore Galway’s pubs and live music.

Day Six · June 11: Connemara and Kylemore Abbey

Drive through Connemara’s boglands and misty mountains, then tour Kylemore Abbey and its Victorian walled garden. Afternoon at leisure back in Galway. After dinner on your own, enjoy the Trad on the Prom show next door, featuring Irish music, song, and dance hosted by Michael’s pals from his Riverdance days.

Day Seven · June 12: Lough Corrib Cruise and Westport

Cruise Lough Corrib, Ireland’s largest lake in the Republic, and enjoy Irish coffee on board. Continue to Westport House for a visit, then check in and enjoy dinner with the group. Evening music in Westport is hard to beat.

Day Eight · June 13: Achill Island Tour

Tour Achill Island via Clew Bay, Newport, and the Curraun Peninsula. It’s one of Michael’s favorite scenic spots in Ireland. Return to Westport for an evening at leisure.

Day Nine · June 14: Strokestown House and Dublin Farewell

Visit Strokestown Park House for a look into Irish life during the Famine era. Continue to Dublin for an orientation drive through the city center, then check in and enjoy free time. Tonight, celebrate with a farewell dinner and a lively show of traditional Irish music, songs, and step-dancing.

Day Ten · June 15: Return Home or Extend Your Stay

Transfer to the airport for your flight back to Ames, or stay on in Dublin for a few more days to explore on your own. You know you’ll want to.
